Dr Jonray LeeChing is an experienced GP with a strong background in emergency medicine and a passion for providing comprehensive, continuous care. What do you enjoy most about general practice?

It is the unique blend of continuity, comprehensive care, and connection—seeing the threads that tie the patient, the family, and the community together over time that make GP work so vital and impactful. The massive variety of people, perspectives and presentations keeps the job constantly interesting and the skillset ever evolving.

Dr Kim Friggens

Dr Kim Friggens is a warm, detail-focused GP with a background in cardiothoracic medicine and broad clinical experience across Cape Town and KwaZulu-Natal. With special interests in women’s health, geriatric care, wound care, weight management, and sports injuries, she is committed to providing care that truly adds value to each patient’s day and long-term wellbeing.

What do you enjoy most about general practice?

Every interaction with a patient is meaningful to me – whether I’m applying liquid nitrogen to a small keratosis or diagnosing a more serious condition. My goal is always the same — to offer care that genuinely adds value to a patient’s day, their health, and their life.

Dr Karlien van Dyk

Dr Karlien van Dyk is a dedicated GP with a strong academic foundation and extensive experience across major hospitals in KwaZulu-Natal and Cape Town. With additional training in emergency and paediatric life support, as well as focused ultrasound, she has particular interests in acute care, paediatrics, chronic disease management, and primary obstetric care. Dr van Dyk values the continuity and connection that come with general practice and is committed to supporting patients through every stage of life.

What do you enjoy most about general practice?

What I value most about general practice is the continuity of care — the opportunity to follow patients over time, build strong therapeutic relationships, and support them through different stages of their lives. I also enjoy the incredible variety of clinical presentations we see each day, which keeps the work engaging and meaningful.

Dr Peta-Anne Browne

Dr Peta-Anne Browne is a compassionate GP with a strong foundation in internal medicine and a special interest in geriatric care. Trained at the University of Pretoria and with experience across major hospitals in Durban and Pretoria, she is passionate about diagnosing complex conditions, simplifying care for older patients, and ensuring they receive the right support across all healthcare settings.

Geriatric medicine

What do you enjoy most about general practice?

I’m passionate about internal medicine and enjoy solving medical mysteries and finding root causes. With a strong interest in geriatrics, I like helping complex older patients simplify their medications and understand their diagnoses. I value coordinating care between specialists and, when needed, arranging the right specialist support even in the state sector if needed.
